2020 Brides: Roll Call!
/Getting married next year, and still wondering when’s the best time to start looking for your dress? There really is no time like the present…
If your big day is less than a year away, now is the time to get focused on finding that dream dress. We usually suggest our brides start their search 10-12 months prior to their wedding, but this timescale can fluctuate depending on your plans!
Destination weddings are particularly important: if you plan on travelling days or even weeks before the day, you need to take the extra time into account. Fittings and alterations usually require a minimum of six weeks to be completed; so you could be adding an extra month onto your timeline if you’re a busy bee in the lead-up!

The majority of our designers’ production times are approximately 6 months from the point you order your dress, to the moment it is delivered to the boutique ready for you to try on. Adding 6-8 weeks for fittings, and the average 7 weeks it takes a bride to find ‘the one’, and you’re looking at an 8-10-month overall process. Allowing yourself contingency time is always advisable too; especially if you’re planning on having a lot of bridal appointments at different shops!
If your wedding is early 2020 and you’re now reading this and panicking: don’t worry! Our designers can also process a ‘rush order’ - meaning they put your dress ahead of the queue to ensure it arrives on time. This does incur an extra cost, but for the sake of being able to wear your dream dress without stress, it’s minimal!
Don’t forget, you can also purchase a sample dress - meaning the dress has been tried on by others - for a fraction of the cost of a new dress, which you can also take home the same day ready for alterations. This is a great option if you are on a tight timescale or a strict budget, but does mean you are more restricted in choice, and samples usually only come in one size.
And for 2021 brides? It’s never too early to start looking! The more time you give yourself to sort your dress, the more time you have to focus on the more stressful aspects of planning - knowing that your dress is patiently waiting for you at the boutique, ready for fittings closer to the day!
